Groups representing consumers and the housing industry have told a federal regulator that it should not raise mortgage fees, warning that pricier loans could cut access to credit, according to letters obtained by MarketWatch.
Not only should FHFA not direct Fannie and Freddie to increase fees, it should lower them, according to input from the Center for Responsible Lending, a Durham, N.C.-based consumer advocacy group.
