Lobbying on housing finance bill focuses on three senators

Supporters of the Senate Banking Committee’s plan to overhaul the housing finance market are now focusing on winning the votes of three senior Democratic members on the panel, believing that progressives on the committee are unlikely to support the proposal without major changes.
The committee is set to begin considering the bill on April 29 and the goal of committee leaders and Obama administration officials is to grow support for the proposal beyond the 12 panel members — six Democrats, six Republicans — who are expected to vote in favor of the legislation in hopes that will increase the chances of getting a floor vote this year.
