Takeaways from the Senate Banking hearing

Lawmakers on Tuesday took their last opportunity before the midterm elections to press financial regulators on a host of issues, including what rules they intend to finish this year, why they haven’t come down harder on big bank living wills and how they plan to regulate insurers.

They also complained about a lack of transparency at the Financial Stability Oversight Council, a lack of criminal prosecutions of individual bankers and a lack of appreciation for the burden small banks face from rules intended for their too big to fail peers.
